Traveling is certainly not easy these days. We don’t know yet when we’ll be able to get back on a plane. And we miss it indeed! But, I want to be optimistic, and (hopefully) soon, it’ll all be over.  What can we do in meantime? Well, watching a movie is always a good call. Therefore, if you’re planning to visit Italy on your next vacation, you can start practicing the Italian language while sitting on the couch. Here is the list of the 5 best Italian movies on Netflix available right now!

5. They Call Me Jeeg

Drama/comedy superhero kind of movie filmed in Rome. Enzo, a lonely misanthropic crook, gets superhuman strength after being affected by radioactive waste in the Tiber River waters.

4. Happy as Lazzaro

The tale of a meeting between Lazzaro and Tancredi. The first is a young peasant so good that he is often mistaken for simple-minded, the second, a young nobleman cursed by the new friend’s imagination. One of the best new Italian movies on Netflix.

3. The Great Beauty

According to the Academy one of the best Italian movies ever (best foreign movie in 2014). Rome to the extreme in this Fellini-like Sumptuous feast for the eyes. And it features Tony Servillo, the greatest Italian actor at the moment. To sum up, a masterpiece.

2. Novel Crime

All-stars cast for this crime drama, which chronicles the tale of the Roman Banda (gang) Della Magliana. Followed up by a highly acclaimed Tv-show, this remains of the best Italian movies released in the past 15 years.

1. Human Capital

One of my all-time favorite movies. And definitely one of the best Italian movies on Netflix right now. Driving rhythm and great screenplay. The tangled story about two families connected by a tragic event the night before Christmas. Their lives will change forever.

In case of unavailability of any of these movies on Netflix (country restrictions, or simple turnover) you can look in all the other many available platforms. For instance, Youtube offers a wide variety of free movies. In the meantime, we at Eating Europe are working on many new fun activities, to welcome you on your next holiday!
