Excellent experience! What a delightful experience! Sophia was an enthusiastic, kind, energetic guide. The stops she took us to were cozy and delicious. Everywhere felt authentic and we loved that all of the places were run by locals and not chains.
Sophia was even sweet enough to get markers for our toddler so she was entertained as well.
10/10 would recommend!

This was our first time in Athens and we find taking these tours is a great way to see the city and savor the local food. We were not disappointed as our great guide, Blossom, took us on a walking tour from the Agora to a lively restaurant district describing the many buildings and Greek traditions along the way. The food we sampled included Halva, Tzatziki, Dolmas, Spanakopita, Souvlaki and Baklava with traditional Greek coffee and wine to drink. Eating Europe never lets us down!

Barbara gave us a wonderful experience in Athens. Plenty of tasty food and drink. I loved the local people we met and their businesses. I only wish they had offered Greek pastries instead of donuts. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening

Christina
Born and bred in Lesini, a small farming village, I had the opportunity to experience age-old customs and traditions, the beauties of rural Greece, and the authentic flavors of its countryside. A memory that led me to culinary school and afterwards to professional kitchens around the country.
One of my favorite bites is spinach pie with golden crispy handmade phyllo dough and tons of feta cheese.
Fifteen years ago, when I first moved to Athens, I started to explore it as if I was traveling. Now, as a licensed tour guide, it still is my favorite thing to do
Zoi Artemis
From Athens, and named Artemis like the ancient Greek goddess of the hunt!
Greek pies!
I am THRILLED when I get to share authentic Greek flavours and some of my hometown’s hidden spots - not to mention personal and cultural bits and pieces of interesting facts!
Chistina S.
I was born and raised in Athens and I've been showing around it for six years now, and let me tell you, I know all the best spots. From hole-in-the-wall joints to fancy restaurants, I've got the inside scoop. And I'm not just about the food—I love making friends from all over the world.
Souvlaki and Spanakopita
hether you're craving the best spanakopita or just need a local friend to hang out I've got your back. Let's explore Athens together and make some tasty memories!
Manolis
Athenian born, traveler, foodie and friend of great wine. Half the days I eat at old school eateries where nothing changes in decades and the other half I search for the new best approaches to our typical dishes. Coming from an island of great cooks, I love comforting foods and especially tomatoes, herbs, mild spices and legumes.
My favorite dish is gemista (stuffed vegetables), especially at summer when the vegetables are ripe and flavorful. Pair it with a nice Greek Sauvignon Blanc and you are in paradise.
As soon as I started traveling I understood that food connects all humans, and 35 countries later I learnt to deeply appreciate Greek culinary tradition and it's uniqeness. Now I am happy to share it with the rest of the world.
Barbara
Born and raised in Athens, from the moment I was old enough to explore my city with friends I never stopped! And of course food was always in the centre of these explorations! Even the simplest walk down town had a "taste" linked to it.
A good cheese-pie on the go while cruising the city streets always hits the spot
There is nothing more beautiful than experiencing a new place through its flavours and share this with good company, and we certainly aim to please!

That spirit of mindful travel is at the heart of what we do. Our small group food tours are designed to connect you with the real Athens, introducing you to the local families behind our favourite vendors and sharing the stories that make the city so special.

Do I need to tip the guide?
Tips for our lovely guides are not required, but they are appreciated!
Will we visit the same places as other tours?
No. While some tours may have one or two stops which other groups visit (can’t help it if they’re popular!), Eating Europe are proud that the majority of stops on every Athens tour are restaurants and vendors who work exclusively with us.
Do you offer private or custom tours?
We do! Please see the “Book a Private Tour” option or contact us, and we can arrange a private or custom Athens tour to suit your specific needs.
Why Athens Is Magical at Christmas Most people don’t associate Athens with Christmas, yet the city comes alive in ways that catch visitors off guard. During winter, the Acropolis and other ancient landmarks glow beautifully amid the city’s holiday lights, creating a magical scene that rivals those of other major...
Once upon a time, corporate events were all about ticking boxes: stick to the agenda, get everyone in the room, call it a success. But that approach doesn’t really fly anymore, especially in Europe. Things have shifted. Now, it’s just as much about what people feel as what they learn....
Ah, souvlaki. Feasting on mouthwatering skewers of marinated grilled meat is a Greek pastime at this point. For those unfamiliar with souvlaki, which translates to ‘spit’ or ‘skewer,’ it’s been a part of Greek cuisine...
While we all like to indulge in some not-so-nutritious fare now and again, especially on vacation, sometimes I long for slightly healthier options. Traditional Greek food is packed with lean meats, veggies, and olive oil, meaning finding healthy restaurants in Athens, Greece, is actually pretty straightforward! Anyone who’s partaken in...
