Uncover Prague’s mysterious history and savor its rich cuisine: from medieval past to vibrant present!
Highlights
- It’s like stepping back in time, walking in the footsteps of one of the most revered women in Czech history, Saint Agnes of Bohemia, through one of Prague’s oldest monasteries and soaking up the magical atmosphere of its interior.
- Then comes the moment you discover old, almost deserted alleys that have preserved their historical character, right in the middle of an otherwise overcrowded Old Town. 🏰
- In one of Prague’s most famous cafés, where more than a century ago Albert Einstein and Franz Kafka used to sit in these very same seats, you’ll drizzle your handmade strudel with an amazing vanilla sauce.
- With the first sip, you’ll enjoy a nice, cold Czech beer from one of the more than 600 microbreweries across the Czech Republic. 🍺
- You’ll savor svíčková, a true Czech classic: tender beef sirloin in a creamy root-vegetable sauce, finished with cranberries and a touch of whipped cream, served with traditional bread dumplings. It’s exactly as if you’d been invited to a Czech home for Sunday lunch. 🍽️
- And you’ll bite into a soft, fragrant koláč (kolache), a traditional Czech sweet pastry with all kinds of fillings fresh from a small artisanal bakery, just like the ones grandma used to make. 🥧

What Makes the Old Town and New Town Special
Old Town is Prague’s beating heart, where Gothic spires, astronomical clocks, and winding medieval lanes draw you deeper with every turn. But step off the main square and the real character emerges, tucked-away hospodas serving rich goulash and crispy bramboráky, old-world kavárnas with marble tables and tall windows, and cellar bars pouring excellent Czech beer in rooms that have hosted drinkers for centuries. Old Town rewards those who wander beyond the obvious.
New Town, despite its name, dates back to the 14th century and stretches from Wenceslas Square to the riverbank with a more local, lived-in energy. Its wide boulevards and hidden courtyards are home to bustling beer halls, modern bistros, and market stalls where Prague’s contemporary food scene thrives alongside tradition. From a proper tank pilsner at a neighbourhood pub to inventive Czech cooking in a converted passage, New Town is where everyday Prague sits down to eat.

Frequently Asked Questions
General Tour Information
Is a private Prague craft beer tour worth it?
Absolutely. Czech beer culture is the deepest in the world per capita, and the world’s only brewery boat is exclusive to this tour. A private booking gives your group exclusive access to Loď Pivovar, a private Café Louvre table for lunch, and a guide focused entirely on you — at a flexible pace through Prague’s most historic neighbourhoods.
What’s included in the price of the private Prague tour?
All food and drink across 5 stops, including Czech craft beer at Loď Pivovar, marinated hermelín, chlebíčky, poppyseed kolache, gingerbread, svíčková or kuře na paprice at Café Louvre, and apple strudel at Café Platýz. Czech white wine, Czech pilsner, home-brewed lemonade, and water are all included. A donated meal via World Central Kitchen is included with every booking. No hidden charges, no upsells.
How long is the tour?
This private food tour runs 3.5 hours, with daily 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, or 1:30 pm departures. Custom timings available for corporate groups on request.
What neighborhoods does the tour cover?
The Jewish Quarter (Josefov), the Old Town (Staré Město), and the New Town (Nové Město) — including stops near Mozart’s only surviving theatre.
What is the private group size?
Private bookings are available for 2 to 12 guests. For larger groups, we can arrange a custom experience — get in touch.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend at least 2 weeks ahead. Corporate groups should book 4+ weeks in advance — and around major Prague conferences and the Christmas market season, much earlier.
Can I customize the private tour?
Yes. Stops, pacing, dietary focus, and start time can be adjusted. We can also extend with a Prague Castle walk, deeper Pilsner Urquell tastings, or pair with our Mystical Prague by Night Tour for celebrations.
What’s the minimum age?
This tour is suitable from age 4 and up — children under 4 can join for free, but food is not included for ages 3 and under.
Food and Drink
What kind of food will we taste?
Authentic Czech classics — marinated hermelín, chlebíčky, poppyseed kolache, gingerbread, svíčková or kuře na paprice at Café Louvre, and apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Czech craft beer at Loď Pivovar, plus Czech white wine, Czech pilsner, and home-brewed lemonade.
Are drinks included?
Yes. Czech craft beer or home-brewed lemonade, Czech white wine, Czech pilsner, and water are all included in the price.
Do the tours accommodate vegetarian or gluten-free diets?
Vegetarian-friendly. Vegan, gluten-free, and kosher options may be limited given the svíčková, hermelín, and chlebíčky-led menu. Share dietary restrictions when booking; on a private booking we have more flexibility to plan around dietary needs.
Are portions enough for a meal?
Yes — at 5 substantial stops including a sit-down lunch at Café Louvre, this is a full meal and then some. Most guests don’t eat again after.
Booking and Payment
How do I book a private Prague tour?
Book directly via the Book Private Tour button above, or contact [email protected] / +1 917-909-6432 to discuss custom requirements.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Major debit and credit cards, iDEAL, and Bancontact. Corporate invoicing, advance payment, and purchase orders available on request.
What is the cancellation policy for private tours?
Private tours can be cancelled and fully refunded up to 7 days before tour departure.
Do you offer corporate invoicing?
Yes. We handle company invoicing, advance payment, purchase orders, and dedicated event coordination for corporate bookings — including conference programs and executive offsites.
Tour Experience & Expectations
Will the guide speak my language?
All guides are fluent in English and Czech. Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and German may be available on request — please ask when booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Will we visit the same places as other tours?
No. The majority of stops on every Prague tour are restaurants and vendors who work exclusively with us, and on a private booking the route is built entirely around your group.
Is the tour wheelchair or stroller accessible?
Old Town and the Jewish Quarter have cobbled streets, and Loď Pivovar has step access. Please contact us before booking and we’ll plan a route that works for your group.
Do you offer other private food tours in Prague?
Yes. We also run the Prague Night Food & Drinks Tour (Mystical Prague by Night), exploring Malá Strana with a smoking cocktail finale. Get in touch and we’ll help you find the right fit.
