Dublin may not be known for its array of markets, but it has a surprisingly lengthy selection of open-air bazaars and pop-up fairs. Before I kicked off my Dublin food tours, I didn’t know a whole lot about the marketplaces in the Irish capital, only to later realize that the city boasted a ton of fantastic weekly and occasional markets!
While I highly suggest you visit some of the best restaurants in Dublin, I also recommend ambling around a handful of markets during your stay. More than just hubs for street food vendors, the markets in Dublin offer incredible shopping opportunities for those on the hunt for vintage finds and handcrafted goods.
Below, I’ve detailed the top markets in Dublin to add to your itinerary ahead of your next trip.
Why Dublin’s Markets Are a Must-Visit
Although the shopping culture has shifted over the years, Dublin has held onto some of its long-standing marketplaces while newer establishments continue to appear across the city. You’ll have your pick of farmers’ markets, hot food stalls, craft bazaars, and flea and street markets.
Not only will you be supporting local businesses, but you’ll also have access to tasty foods, thrifted goods, and handmade products unique to Dublin’s markets. For the best experience, arrive early and come prepared with cash and cards, as payment options will vary between vendors.
The Best Markets in Dublin for Food, Shopping, and Local Finds
George’s Street Arcade

George’s Street Arcade is one of Dublin’s daily markets, and it’s just under a five-minute walk from the famous Temple Bar. Opened since 1881, it’s one of the oldest city markets in Europe and stands out for its unique building, which has a quintessentially Victorian design.
Umi Falafel is my favorite among the handful of places to eat here; it’s nestled among the many clothing and souvenir booths. Of course, I went for the falafel since it was their specialty. Each piece had a crisp outer crust and a flavorful mix of spices on the inside, like cumin, which tasted even better when dipped into the tangy hummus.
George’s Street Arcade – South Great George’s Street, Dublin – Open every Monday to Wednesday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and every Thursday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Dun Laoghaire Sunday Market
Dun Laoghaire’s weekend market runs every Sunday right by the People’s Park in this leafy Dublin suburb. You can find all kinds of fare here, from Indian classics to Lebanese specialties, as well as miscellaneous items like candles, cosmetics, and artificial foodstuffs.
Given my love for all things culinary, I wasn’t too fussed about the crafted items, and I had my eyes firmly set on the pad Thai from the Thai stall. The dish had a balance of both sweet and savory flavors with a nutty aftertaste, thanks to the crunchy peanuts poured on top.
Dun Laoghaire Sunday Market – The People’s Park, Glenageary Rd Lower – Open every Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Howth Market

Speaking from experience, one of the best markets in Dublin is the Howth Market. With as many as 25 booths selling anything and everything, including fresh produce and hot snacks, it’s a relatively new addition to the scene, only opening nine years ago.
Luckily, I visited over the weekend when all the stalls were open for business, as most of them stay closed midweek except for a select few. I sampled fish and chips from one of them, which was out of this world. The salted chips (known to many of us as ‘fries!’) were drenched in pungent vinegar, and the crispy fish had a soft and flaky consistency.
Howth Market – 3A Harbour Rd, Howth – Open every Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and every Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Marlay Park Market

Over at the historic 300-acre Marlay Park in Rathfarnham, you’ll find a weekly market held every Saturday and Sunday. You can find lots of goods here, from handmade gifts to roasted specialty coffee, not to mention the endless appetizing bites on offer.
I tried one of the chicken burritos from Dos Burritos, and it turned out to be incredibly delicious. The toasted wrap was filled with creamy black beans and zingy salsa, and the chicken was covered in a fiery Mexican spice mix, which left a lingering aftertaste.
Marlay Park Market – Haroldsgrange, Dublin – Open every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Red Stables Market

Over in St Anne’s Park, a short 20-minute drive outside of Dublin city center, you’ll find the Red Stables Market. A small but mighty trading post, it opens every Saturday with various stations selling fresh cheeses, meats, chocolates, pastries and so much more.
The stall selling the scones looked too good to resist and looked like the ideal accompaniment to the coffee I’d just purchased. While the crumbly dough had a light, sugary taste, the rich butter gave it some balance and mellowed sweet flavors.
Red Stables Market – St Annes Park, Dublin – Open every Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Liberty Market

The Liberty Market is arguably the most famous market in Dublin, as it’s been up and running in the city center for over 50 years. It’s not the best spot for on-the-go eats, but you’ll find fruits, vegetables, premium cuts of meat, and fresh seafood alongside stalls filled with accessories, homeware, and craft supplies.
As a lover of Irish beef, I had to pick up some steaks from one of the local butchers to prepare that evening. Just as I expected, the quality of the meat was top-notch, from the tender consistency to the robust flavor profile.
Liberty Market – Meath Street, The Liberties, Dublin – Open every Thursday and Friday from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm and every Saturday from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm.
