Where’s your favorite pizza place in Rome?

Creme caramel” – Via Taranto (near San Giovanni and Re Di Roma) – because the pizza is great and you will feel like a real Roman.  You can be guaranteed that you will be the only non-Italian in the pizzeria, and if that is not true it means that someone else read this blog, like you!

What’s your most-loved topping?

The nduja – a Calabrese speciality – basically a spreadable salami –  made with pork meat and really spicy red pepper

Ai Marmi” in Viale Trastevere, it’s so ‘Roman’, the pizza is good, the sides and the fritti are amazing and the atmosphere is unique!

What’s your most-loved topping?

I vary between margherita, diavola and the quattro formaggi con bresoala e rucola.

Where’s your favorite pizza place in Rome?

Ristorante Romolo alla Mole Adriana” is my local favorite (pizza is served only at dinner time).

For pizza by the slice – “Pane e Tempesta“, “Roscioli” or “Bonci“.

What’s your most-loved topping?

I like to keep it simple, I don’t have one favorite.  I love prosciutto crudo on top…or salame piccante. I also love the no tomato bases – so fiori di zucca con alici per esempio!

Where’s your favorite pizza place in Rome?

My favorite pizza place in town is “Gusto Pizza“, nowadays owned by Sandro and Mirella, their pizza has made us become really good friends. They learnt to make pizza from Rosario and Giuseppe – Mirella’s father and the uncle, who opened the shop around 1969. It was the first located on Via Tuscolana 873.

The family comes from Calabria and over the years have opened other pizza shops with different names in different areas of the city, always owned and managed by family members.

Their pizza is special, top quality ingredients delivered daily but for the really secret ingredients they have to wait a few days because they arrive from Calabria.

What’s your most-loved topping?

It’s was really difficult to decide, but here my two favorite types.

The Rustica: white pizza sandwiched with a few slices of fresh tomato, smoked provola cheese, rolled pancetta and wild oregano (all from Calabria). To be eaten warm or cold.

Artichokes cream: the perfect base is topped by a first layer of Artichokes cream, then mozzarella (fior di latte) and to finish, smoked salmon and some parsley.

No other pizza shop make the same, at least in Rome.

Where’s your favorite pizza place in Rome?

My favorite pizza in Rome is “Alle Carrette” in Monti.

Because of the quality of the dough, it’s cooked pretty much spot on, and it’s a bit alta (tall) (I always ask for my pizza alta – I’m not Roman).

Also, the fritti is equally as good. 🙂

What’s your most-loved topping?

My favorite kind of pizza is always una focaccia (pizza bianca) with speck, carciofi, and rughetta finished with olive oil. Even though cheese IS my favorite food, I think that pizza is better without it.

What’s your most-loved topping?

Bufala – buffalo mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil…simplicity is best!!!

Something a bit different

Trapizzino from our Testaccio Supper Stroll.

On our Testaccio Supper Stroll you get to try this delicious chicken cacciatore trapizzino. Trapizzino is a play on words, combining tramezzino (a triangular sandwich) and pizza. You get to wash it down with a craft beer too.
