Naples offers some of the best cuisine in Italy, if not all of Europe. So, it’s no wonder why they have so many Michelin-starred restaurants vying for a place in a must-try Naples food tour.
With so many options, like Trattoria Don Alfonso 1890, Palazzo Petrucci Ristorante, and La Serra, you might feel spoiled for choice. So, I decided to take a closer look at some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in Naples and the kind of dining experience they offer.
Trattoria Don Alfonso
Trattoria Don Alfonso 1890 in Naples offers an elegant dining experience focused on elevated authentic Mediterranean flavors. They earned their two Michelin stars under the guidance of Master Chef Ernesto Iaccarino and his dedication to quality and innovative cuisine.
You’ll find Don Alfonso on the stunning Sorrento Peninsula, near the attractions of the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. The surrounding picturesque views add to the refined ambiance that perfectly blends traditional Italian decor with contemporary elements.
Don Alfonso’s menu focuses on locally sourced, organic ingredients, along with handmade pasta and stunningly fresh seafood. Chef Ernesto Iaccarino emphasizes sustainability and traditional cooking techniques with creative twists.
Signature dishes, including rich risottos and delicately spiced lamb, reflect the restaurant’s commitment to celebrating the region’s rich agricultural heritage.
On my last visit to Don Alfonso, I enjoyed a delightful lemon-scented risotto with red prawns and burrata cheese. The locally sourced Amalfi lemons gave it a vibrant flavor that perfectly cut the richness of the burrata, while simultaneously enhancing the brininess of the fresh red prawns.
Trattoria Don Alfonso (€€€) – Via del Macello, 43, 80143 Napoli NA, Italy – Open Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Open Saturday from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Closed Monday.
Palazzo Petrucci Ristorante

Located near Castel dell’Ovo and the historic center of Naples, Palazzo Petrucci Ristorante offers a refined dining experience. They earned their Michelin star by expertly infusing modern elegance with traditional rustic Italian cuisine.
Palazzo Petrucci is near the scenic Posillipo coastline, which provides stunning views of the Gulf of Naples. The interior décor is a harmonious mix of minimalist elegance and warmth, designed to enhance the view. The open kitchen concept also lets you watch your meal being prepared, while adding an interactive element to the dining experience.
The menu at Palazzo Petrucci highlights seasonal Neapolitan ingredients with innovative preparations. This sometimes includes embracing avant-garde gastronomy in some of their dishes, such as the grilled polpo (octopus) with smoked potato foam I had at my last visit to Palazzo Petrucci. The octopus was stunningly tender, and the grilled flavor dovetailed perfectly into the smoked treatment of the ethereally light potato foam.
Palazzo Petrucci Ristorante (€€€) – Via Posillipo, 16 C, 80123 Napoli NA, Italy – Open Monday to Thursday from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Open Friday to Sunday for lunch from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, with dinner service from 7:00 to 10:30 PM.
Veritas

Veritas offers an elegant Michelin-starred dining experience that infuses traditional Italian cuisine with modern influences. It’s conveniently located near popular attractions like the National Archaeological Museum and the bustling Piazza del Plebiscito. Making it a convenient spot for a refined meal after an exciting day exploring the history of Naples.
The ambiance at Veritas is strategically understated with minimalist decor that adds the perfect air of sophistication. The clean lines, warm lighting, and a chic color palette help enhance the visual beauty of the artistically plated dish. Much in the same way a frame elevates the artistic quality of a classic painting.
The Michelin-starred menu at Veritas emphasizes fresh, seasonal ingredients, in innovative combinations. They sometimes use unexpected flavors to challenge your palate in surprising ways you fall in love with. Some of their signature dishes often feature local seafood, pasta dishes, creative risottos with red shrimp, and occasionally suckling pig.
The last time I was there, I tried their seafood risotto made with shellfish stock. I could taste the briny essence of the Mediterranean coming through, which perfectly enhanced the umami or the gambero rosso (red prawns). The entire dish was then kissed with fresh Amalfi lemon zest which gave it a tantalizingly bright aroma.
Veritas (€€) – C.so Vittorio Emanuele, 141, 80121 Napoli NA, Italy – Open Tuesday to Saturday from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Open Sunday from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Closed on Monday.
La Serra
You’ll find La Serra located within the luxurious Le Agavi Hotel in Positano, which is just south of Naples. They offer an exquisite Michelin-starred dining experience surrounded by the breathtaking coastal landscape of the Amalfi Coast.
The stunning views out of the floor-to-ceiling windows give La Serra a serene, elegant ambiance. The fresh odor of the sea and the impeccably fresh aroma of the seafood being cooked in kitchen further tantalize your palate.
La Serra’s menu offers a refined take on traditional Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. The ingredients are seasonal and sourced locally, often focusing on the region’s abundant seafood.
There are tons of à la carte options as well as a creatively curated tasting menu that simultaneously showcases the chef’s innovation and dedication to Italian flavors. This might be embodied best by the seafood risotto.
However, on my last visit, I took a different route and tried the roast lamb special that night. It was perfectly perfumed with rosemary, which grows as a perennial herb in this part of Italy. The depth of aroma that the mature rosemary added was profound and added to the grass-fed flavor of the expertly roasted lamb.
La Serra (€€€€) – V. G. Marconi, 171, 84017 Positano SA, Italy – Open every day from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

They offer stunning views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius to go with their elevated Mediterranean cuisine. It’s also conveniently located close to popular tourist attractions like the Museo Cappella Sansevero and Castel Sant’Elmo.
The décor at George easily incorporates the elegant look and feel of the Grand Hotel Parker, while making use of minimalist elements. The commanding vistas out the floor-to-ceiling windows are taken to the next level if you can score a table at sunset!
Much of George’s menu highlights Mediterranean cuisine that is then given a contemporary twist. The dishes are all the brainchild of Chef Domenico Candela who focuses on using locally sourced, high-quality ingredients that reflect Naples’ culinary traditions.
On my last visit, I embarked on a culinary journey through that night’s seafood-tasting menu. Much of which featured locally caught fish and shellfish perfectly paired with tender al dente pasta like bucatini.
George (€€€€) – C.so Vittorio Emanuele, 135, 80121 Napoli NA, Italy – Open Tuesday to Saturday from 7:45 PM to 10:15 PM. Closed Sunday and Monday.
Conclusion
With the abundance of local agriculture and the seafood of the Amalfi coast, there are tons of Michelin-starred restaurants to include in your next Naples food tour.
If you’re looking for an immersive coastal experience, then La Serra or Veritas might be at the top of your list. If you’re looking for a stunning view to match impeccably stunning cuisine, then a restaurant like George or Trattoria Don Alfonso would be my top recommendation.
