Finding the best family-friendly restaurants in Paris can leave you feeling spoiled for choice. Depending on how old your children are, you might need to seek out places that offer a kid’s menu, or some type of American comfort food.
If your kids are older, a more mature brasserie or a bistro might be in play. Paris might even be the perfect dining experience to elevate your kid’s palate for the rest of your French adventure.
So my family friends and I decided to dig a little deeper to help you find some of the best family restaurants to visit on your next Paris food tour. We’ll start with well-known names like Le Relais de l’Entrecôte and secret gems my kids fell in love with like Le Refuge des Fondus.
Le Relais de l’Entrecôte

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte has three Parisian locations, but I think the one at Rue Marbeuf is the most family-friendly. The ambiance is a little more comfortable for kids, and it’s also close to everything the Champs-Élysées has to offer. The staff here is also used to dealing with people who don’t speak fluent French, which makes it easier for kids to navigate their menu.
To skip the steak frites at Le Relais de l’Entrecôte would be like going to France and skipping Le Louvre. I can still close my eyes and feel the heat of their crispy frites in my hand and taste the patina of rich beef grease on my lips.
There isn’t a kid’s menu per se, but the adult portions are easily split between two. They also offer some stunning desserts such as their chocolate cake Sévigné, that will change how your kid thinks of ice cream.
Le Relais de l’Entrecôte (€€€) – 15 Rue Marbeuf, 75008 Paris – Open for lunch Monday to Sunday from 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM and dinner from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
La Coupole

If you’re looking for the best family restaurant in Montparnasse, my vote goes to La Coupole. The ambiance has an Art Deco vibrance that your kids will find enthralling.
However, La Coupole is best known as an oyster bar with a wide range of seafood dishes, and When it’s time to introduce an older child to the magic of a properly prepared oyster, this is the place to go.
This is where I learned to truly tell the difference between the firm texture and briny taste of a true Brittany Belon and the soft sweetness of Tarbouriech Mediterranean oysters.
La Coupole’s menu has a selection of things that you could consider a children’s menu. The grilled chicken and frites are sure to please the taste buds of a younger child who’s hungry for comfort food.
La Coupole (€€€) – 102 Boulevard du Montparnasse, 75014 Paris – Open for lunch from 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM and dinner from 7:00 PM – 11:30 PM.
Pizza Chic

Pizza Chic is a Parisian family restaurant near Église Saint-Sulpice that will scratch the occasional itch for a great pizza. Without suffering the indignity of getting a pizza from a chain store on your Parisian vacation.
It holds a special place in my heart, for being the place where my daughter learned to love wood-fired pizza. The crust shows real craftsmanship with a perfectly crispy bottom, while everything else is delicately tender.
I had the Gusto which is topped with gorgonzola, stracchino, taleggio, and mozzarella. The aroma of the gorgonzola and the richness of the other cheeses were a perfect counterpoint to the flavor of the crust.
The ambiance in Pizza Chic rides the line between being an upscale restaurant and a fine dining pizza experience. If you’re trying to give your kids a more mature palate, it’s a great gateway pizzeria. However, it might be a little too formal for children under 10.
Pizza Chic (€€€) – 13 Rue de Mézières, 75006 Paris – Open Monday to Sunday from 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM for lunch and dinner from 7:00 PM – 10:30 PM.
Le Refuge des Fondus
Nestled in the Montmartre area, Le Refuge des Fondus is a great place to introduce your children to the joy of fondue done right. It’s a small bistro, with long tables festooned with communal fondue pots.
I went here a couple of months ago with an old friend and his family. We were smart to make reservations and showed up early.
Le Refuge des Fondus offers two distinct fondue styles, both hard to choose from. While the Fondue Savoyarde, with its rich alpine cheese, was very appealing, the kids weren’t real fans of cheese.
The Fondue Bourguignonne was the clear winner, stealing the show for them. The beef tenderloin strips were incredibly tender and flavorful, and cooking them ourselves added a fun, interactive element. The earthy, salty frites perfectly balanced the richness of the meat, making the entire experience delightful.
Le Refuge des Fondus (€€) – 17 Rue des Trois Frères, 75018 Paris – Open Monday to Sunday for dinner 5:30 PM – 11:30 PM.
La Creperie de Josselin

La Creperie de Josselin in Montparnasse is one of the best crêperies with a family feel. They serve authentic Brittany style crepes that break the American notion of a crepe being just a sweet, dessert-like dish.
I visited this charming family-friendly crêperie with a couple and their daughters, where we all ordered the crêpe fraise. It featured sweet strawberries and rich, velvety whipped cream, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
We then followed with a galette complète, a traditional Breton buckwheat crepe filled with salty ham and gooey Emmental cheese, the melted cheese added a rich, indulgent touch, making each bite satisfyingly hearty and flavorful.
This is a great place to introduce kids to crepes with comfort food touchstones, while also exposing them to what a crepe can be. It also whets their appetite for the other treasures French cuisine has to offer.
La Creperie de Josselin (€€) – 67 Rue du Montparnasse, 75014 Paris – Open Monday to Sunday for lunch from 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM, and dinner from 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
Les Ombres

Les Ombres is a family-friendly restaurant with just the right amount of fine dining ambiance.. It has a massive rooftop dining area on the Musée du quai Branly with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower.
On our last family trip to Paris, a Monday evening rain shower chased a lot of people indoors. It left us with an almost empty terrasse. A rare experience at Les Ombres. We slowly sipped decadent hot chocolate, watching the Eiffel Tower light up as the slow curtain of night fell over the city.
Les Ombres also offers a great brunch service that highlights the seasonality of French cuisine. It’s only available on weekends, and reservations are required.
Les Ombres (€€€€) – 27 Quai Branly, 75007 Paris – Open for lunch Monday to Friday: 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM with lunch service on Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Dinner service is Monday to Sunday 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM
L’As du Fallafel

Located in the beating heart of Le Marais, L’As du Fallafel is a family-friendly restaurant specializing in falafel. It reminds you that Paris is indeed a multicultural city that embraces the best of what other cuisines have to offer.
L’As du Fallafel also reminds you that at its core falafel is meant to be a casual street food. Service is typically fast, and you have some custom options for toppings and sauces that you need to tell them when you order.
I stopped here a few times while touring Le Marais. While they do offer delicious shawarma and hummus plates, the falafel special is the way to go. I get it with everything and ask for extra tahini sauce.
The falafel balls are fresh fried to order. Each one with a crispy exterior, and a perfectly soft interior perfumed with garlic and cumin.
L’As du Fallafel (€€) – 34 Rue des Rosiers, 75004 Paris, France – Open Monday to Thursday from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Sunday from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM. They are closed on Saturdays.
Chez Janou

Specializing in Provençal cuisine, Chez Janou is one of the most popular family-friendly restaurants near Place des Vosges in the 3rd arrondissement . It has a whimsical décor that older kids will find engaging.
It might be the best place outside of Provence to get authentic ratatouille and salade niçoise. Yet, I’m in love with their Provençal tapenade. In the peak of summer, it has a perfect perfume of fresh herbs that accents the salty, brininess of the capers, anchovies, and olives.
My daughter would tell you that this is the best place in all of Europe for chocolate mousse. It’s made with rich, dark chocolate folded into stiffly whipped egg whites, and served in an immense bowl. It’s meant to be shared by the family, but you’d be forgiven for trying to keep it all to yourself.
Chez Janou (€€€) – 2, Rue Roger Verlomme • 75003 Paris – Open for lunch on Monday to Saturday from 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM with dinner from 7:00 PM – 10:30 PM. Closed on Sundays.
Check our Review for Chez Janou.
Conclusion
The best family restaurants in Paris can be an opportunity to give your kids a soft introduction to French cuisine. Many offer comfort food touchstones, for times when the family might be a little travel-weary.
The age of your family, and how willing your kids are to take a culinary adventure also need to factor into the Parisian restaurants you choose. Even a family-friendly fondue restaurant can be a hit, as it lets younger kids acceptably play with their food. More mature restaurants and establishments with fine dining ambiance can also be the perfect opportunity to elevate a teenager’s palate.
